Elegy
To die serenely the way Iâve never lived
and watch the cars pass as on a screen
and the slow songs of Nat King Cole
a saxophone a piano the nightfalls on terraces underneath the parasols
this life I never managed to interpret
the wind in the hallways windows open all is white as in a clinic
all dissolved like a cyanide capsule in darkness
Slides with my story are projected
amid the heavy scent of chloroform
Under the fog of the operating room nest strange colored birds
